My other blog had a list of some simple and yummy healthy snacks for first-time moms and I wanted to add/revise that list to some of the things I eat today ! These are low-prep cost-efficient snacks that are gobbled up at our house! Plus if you have a new baby who refuses to let you put her down then most likely your either grabbin’ a snack with one hand or you have her strapped to ya in a baby carrier still making food prep a pain in the ass. (Anyone else drop food on your babies head and just eat it off like it’s a normal thing? No? Just me? Shit. )
This is not a genius new list of snack ideas but if you are a new mom or any kind of mom, chances are your brain has turned slightly to mush and you may need some inspiration or ideas next time you head to the grocery store. Your welcome.
- low fat cottage cheese and peaches
- apple slices with some nut butter spread
- whole wheat flatbread (or naan) and cucumbers dipped in hummus – my favorite is roasted red pepper !
- fat free yogurt (I buy dairy-free yogurt such as soy or almond milk) with granola sprinkled on top
- raw almonds (I buy in the bulk section at Sprouts)
- grapes (these are yummy frozen too in the summer!)
- baby carrots, celery and broccoli with fat free ranch dressing
- fresh kettle-popped popcorn with just a hint of salt
- peanut butter on Triscuits or celery
- hard boiled eggs… TIP: I will boil a dozen eggs and then put them all right back in the container and write HB on the top with permanent marker. This makes for a super quick breakfast too
- fat free wheat thins
- organic fruit leather (We buy ours from Costco)
- organic applesauce and graham crackers
- pretzels
- chunk light tuna in water, drained and placed on a bed of lettuce sprinkled with some fresh black pepper and salt. optional add-in: small bits of celery
- one 1 oz package of Planters NUT-trition nuts (these are SOOO good!)
- Annies organic crackers
- whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, sliced banana and a light drizzle of honey (great filling breakfast option too!)
- clementine oranges
- Homemade trail mix…. I put rice chex cereal, cheerios, peanuts, craisins, M&Ms and pretzels in mine
